<p>This paper describes an equivalent circuit analysis of a meta-surface using a double-layered patch-type frequency-selective surface (FSS); the analysis considers the coupling between FSSs. Two types of double-layered structures are examined. One is a stacked structure and the other is an alternated structure. The results calculated using the equivalent circuit are in agreement with the results of the FDTD analysis. In addition, it is clarified that the stacked and alternated structures exhibit the common mode and the differential mode coupling, respectively. Moreover, experiments support analysis results for both stacked and alternated structures.</p>

This paper proposes a multi-stacked mushroom structure to suppress the mutual coupling between monopole antennas, whose height is taller than that of a conventional mushroom structure. Based on moment method analysis results, it is clarified that the multi-stacked mushroom structure can suppress the mutual coupling more than a conventional 2D arranged structure. Furthermore, the validity of the results is clarified by experiments.

In recent years, a problem of interfering by artificial noises from a electrical power transfer become large and deterioration of a sound quality of an AM radio is worried. In this paper, a noise suppression system using quadrature demodulation techniques is proposed to reduce the effect of the interfering. The proposed system utilizes a fact that the quadrature signal includes only the interference, while the in-phase signal from the demodulator includes both of AM signal and interference. To cancel the noise component in the in-phase signal, the noise component in the quadrature signal is adjusted by a tapped delay line because the sign of the both interference is different each other. Weight coefficients of the tapped delay line are determined based on power inversion (PI) algorithm. Thus, the interference in the in-phase signal can be canceled by the quadrature signal. Validity of the proposed system is shown through computer simulations.

This paper proposes a meta-surface for a miniaturized unit cell that consists of a double-layered Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) and the ground plane. Additional miniaturization of the unit cell is achieved by sliding one layer of the double-layered FSS in the polarization direction of an incident wave. Moreover, the unit cell becomes smaller than half the size of a conventional single-layered meta-surface by using the double-layered FSS.
